Even before quantum mechanics and entanglement first saw the light of human day around 1925, scientists have condemned those who dare to see things differently, and as quantum mechanics has become more fascinating to the world at large, their protective nets have tightened. Brian Cox attacked those with views on Uncertainty other than his own as 'charlatans'. But there's been a development. Entanglement was born in the equations of Schroedinger and Bohr; it was more recently the subject of experiment and became an accepted concept, although Einstein never liked this 'spooky action at a distance'. Essentially, it's the capability of particles to respond interactively with each other regardless of measurable distance between them. Last year a study on quasars pulled more evidence out of the cosmos on the extent of this phenomenon. But scientists still argue that it can't apply to us as living organisms, because we are 'too complex' and after all, talking about quantum mechanics and human beings in the same sentence is just Woo. That is, until now. Suddenly a group of researchers working on luminescent proteins have breached the wall of constraint. Organisms can become entangled, by means of absorbing, emitting and reabsorbing photons. They're soon to be moving the concept on with entangled Tardigrades. So this new evidence takes another brick from the wall, which before long will inevitably tumble, allowing us to finally live in peace with the fact that we are entangled with other Selves and Particles to greater or lesser degrees, because we can freely admit that Light and Energy are the same thing, and we absorb, emit and reabsorb these energies across the non-local divide all the time. We can afford to get excited about this. Proof that we directly experience entanglement pushes us to focus on responsibility in ways we may have been reluctant to accept. We really do have to be careful with our thoughts. Up to us how we handle the thoughts and emotions we absorb from others, and what we emit as a result of that absorption. For those with whom we are entangled won't always see things the way we do. We still have judgement and ego, issues and histories to absolve and diminish in our move towards new paradigms in living life as we know it. We are complex, after all. We do have time, and where there's a will there's a way, but we have first to accept these strange phenomena as part and parcel of present physiology, and to refine our psychology in alignment with approaches that actually work, replacing traditional approaches that have, let's face it, not done us many favours so far. This is a major revelation. Not only for the barriers to scientific progress promised to be breached, but for the initiation of wider thought on matters of quantum mechanics relative to the human condition. There are a lot of new-age protagonists out there who put 'Quantum' in the title of their church, webpage, seminar or world tour without any real exploration of what this actually means, with no explanation of how the science works in relation to the esoterics they are expounding. Wouldn't it be great if we could bring new science into the field of vision without the traditional barriers of condemnation and contempt, and begin to corroborate personal experience with cutting-edge discoveries which make sense of our placement in spacetime, our relationship with the Universe and with each other, and our growth process as we continue our quest for what dreams may come of being the Beings we really and truly would love to be? What would be left for us to argue about?
