Dark nights - sometimes life brings the broken, twisted parts of ourselves in from the deep to litter the shores of self-perception as we struggle to align with what seems right, with what will help, with what makes sense. For a brief moment it flashes in front of us, lifts us to new heights with a promise of peace until the tide turns back to haunt as morning breaks, washing clean the resolution that seemed intent the day before. These times are common to all of us, and in the midst of them - whatever their cause - all we really ask for is change. These phases happen when a shift is due, when a mode is outdated, when an end is needed to create a new beginning. The darkest hour, they say, is just before the dawn. Are you one who says, "That's their problem," while dealing from higher places? Or are you one who senses that when people are assured they become more confident, and that confidence is a valuable commodity both personally and collectively? Confidence builds trust, and trust builds dynamics free of resistance to change. Moonlight, reflected though it is, carries a reputation for power in phase with its cycle round the earth. A waxing moon is said to be more potent than one in wane. Perhaps even without its inspirational rhythms of light, it would still pull the oceans and exert magnetic influences. But then there would be no Sun, and no life to watch it happen. We perceive the skies with magical reverence, while special events embed themselves in the psyche. Birds fall silent during eclipse. People take selfies on the beach. We want nothing more than to capture cosmic moments, while forgetting the essence of passing time, the ebb and flow of life. A photon takes a million years to reach the surface of the Sun from conception at the core. Eight minutes, thereafter, to reach Earth. Everything is relative. Time to step back. Many lives are touched by one person's decisions. The butterfly effect is unchecked once in motion. When someone acts from a position of power, they amplify effects accordingly, and the energy released may be positive or negative. These polarities have distinct characteristics - one is openly shared, the other subversive. One is encouraging, the other critical. One enlightens, the other casts doubt. One empowers, the other weakens. The characteristics of a partnership or culture are directly related to the character of energy on which it is fed. There in the dream, behind the dark night's terrors, is a truth we share. A quest that unites us. Wherever you are, if you've been brought to this page your journey has encompassed enough to ensure an eager appetite for answers, and you want them not just for yourself, but for the benefit of others. Such is the nature of an evolving mind. With maturity comes empathy. With integrity comes grace. Nothing can prevent this quest, or stall its progress, for many are intent on uncovering its mission statement. Regardless of prejudice, judgement, labels or laments, we know that something is moving us into new waters. You could say we're learning to row with different strokes. Perhaps we have no choice....
