This topic really lends itself to the .Net site, but since .Org is the adopted site for the new Quantumology group meetings in Swindon, it seemed right to post it here first. How Time Works is the first topic on the agenda for the new live meetings (13th February 2017 - be there at the Goddard Arms for 6.30pm!) so this is a good place to offer something relative.
Time is constructed by the Future and the Past converging to make the Present, which everyone knows to be the case, but it's a point of order that the past and the future are carried on waves, much as a radio station plays music carried on frequencies. Science calls these waves 'advanced' and 'retarded' - read about them here. This article is a PDF which explores the role of advanced and retarded waves in a number of aspects across physics and dares to include consciousness as a major part of the equation (it's not an overwhelmingly long paper, either).
Now, another point of order is that the only time we actually exist is in the Now. Once you've read this, the You that read those words is now a wave form, and the You that is going to read the next paragraph is also a wave form. This is in accordance with the quantum principle of wave-particle duality, which you can read about here. In that article you'll also find the Uncertainty Principle dovetailing into the equation, which is always nice because the Uncertainty Principle deserves to get everywhere.
My point in relation to zero-point is that this energy could be dedicated to fuelling the existence of material reality in the Now. That could well be the only point of zero-point energy. There is much speculation as to how this energy field works, and there have been many developments (most of which don't make it to publication, let alone prototype) in accessing this permanent, unconditionally renewable source - spend 9 minutes on this YouTube demonstration of how zero point energy works.
